KINGDOM PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 21, 2023

FMC PRAYER: Father, this week we lift up the hearts and minds of our congregation and our desire to pray. May our prayers always be pleasing to You. Continue to open our eyes to see Your Kingdom when we pray. Use us to stand in the gap for others and bring us to our knees when we feel like we can handle things on our own. Let there be revival in our hearts so that our prayer life becomes more about You and less about US.

SUNDAY’S SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 5:3-6

FMC VALUE: Value 2 – Sharpen the Axe: Abraham Lincoln said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four hours sharpening the axe.” Achieving our vision is a massive undertaking, and to see it realized, we must become effective tools for God’s Kingdom. We must maintain our health and wellness spiritually, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and relationally. We must also constantly be learning and growing to increase our effectiveness over time.

INVISIBLE CHURCH: Lord, lead me in building others up with the gifts and opportunities you have given me. Forgive me for having a “me first” mentality at church. Help me put others first and seek to use the spiritual gifts you have graciously entrusted to me to build up others. Guide me in my interactions so others are blessed and You are glorified. Show me who to talk to, where to sit, and how to encourage others with Scripture. Help me be a channel of encouragement as we see the Day drawing near.

PILLAR: Pillar 7. Make Disciples (disciple-maker/mentor/developer) Pray for those who attend FMC – that we would represent Your local body of believers well. Help us to establish mentorship relationships, where everyone mentors both up and down across the church.

PRACTICE: 2 Timothy 4:2 – “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”
