KINGDOM PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 1, 2023
FMC PRAYER: Lord, may our love greatly adorn the gospel. Father, your Son said that the love we have for our brothers and sisters will proclaim to the world that we are your disciples (John 13:34–35). Deepen our love for one another and make us eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:1-3). Help us care for all, not showing favoritism.
May love compel us to strengthen the weak, bind up the injured, and serve patiently as we remember our service to others is service to you (Matthew 25:31–46). Help us model your unfathomable love for us in our honoring of one another, and so prove to the watching world Christ has risen and reigns.
SUNDAY’S SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 4:17-19 “Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.”
FMC TEAM VALUES: Value 10 – Play Motion Offense: In basketball, motion offense is a fluid approach where the players are always moving and always aware of where each other are. It only works if the team is in tune maintaining complete awareness. We want our team to be anticipating each other’s moves and needs even before they happen. We will fight against silos and work to complement what other team members are doing.
INVISIBLE CHURCH: Freedom from Besetting Sins – Lord, we all struggle with sin. Please keep us from the enemy’s scheme of condemnation and grant us repentance so that we may escape the trap of the evil one. Thank You that sin was done away with on the cross and that we are no longer slaves to it. Help us to throw off everything that entangles and run this race with perseverance. (Ro. 8:1; 2 Tim. 2:25, 26; Ro. 6:6; Heb. 12:1)
PILLAR: Pillar 3. Pray in Faith (prayer warriors/dependence on God/faith) Pray that God would cultivate in your heart an honest desire for prayer; that the Spirit would open your eyes to see and communicate with Him on a daily basis. May your heart be set on fire with the words and wisdom of the Gospel and the humble honesty of your need for God’s leadership and guidance in your life.
MEDITATE: Matthew 6:5-8 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
