Day Four: God Sustains His people
Sermon Point: Now that they were on the other side of the Jordan, Israel no longer needed the quail and manna with which God had been sustaining them for forty years. Every single day, God faithfully provided for His people. God was still going to provide for His people, but now He promised to sustain them through the produce of the land – a land flowing with milk and honey. Just like before, Israel must continue to trust that God would continue to give them all they needed, because He is a God who always sustains His people.
Truth: Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
Reflection: Do you find yourself worrying about your daily needs? How can you begin to believe this promise from God in Philippians and then start behaving in step with your belief?
Response: Think of a way God can use you today to help meet someone else’s need. Pray to God about that, ask Him for strength and courage to be a conduit of His faithful provision in their life, and then go and do the thing – for God’s glory alone!
